China Travel Part 8 (Beijing)

At the morning we arrive at Beijing west railway station..We take the metro to our hotel “Spring Time Hostel” and left our luggage…then start our journey to Summer Palace. Nearest station is Beihongmen station in Line 4 (Exit A). This exit is near to north gate of the summer palace…

Entry cost: 60 yuan per person.

Again, Summer palace is a huge complex..at first we bought a map cost us 10 yuan..then we made a plan….first we enter Suzhou Market street and take the boat….that boat will take us at the end of the summer palace near seven arch bridge and island by Kunming lake….so we just need to walk the whole complex only in one way… 😀

Kunming lake is also huge…while boating…views from lake are amazing.. After getting off from the boat..we start walking toward Tower of Buddhist Incense…on the way we visit some museum which is included in our ticket…finally we reach Buddha tower after 1 and half our walking from seven arch bridge…

Then we start climbing the tower..After climbing three long stairways..we reach at the top…you can view the whole summer palace from here…:D then we exit the temple from the back….which is not stairs but hilly surface going down..after visiting marble boat… we headed toward north gate…we totally spend 3 hour here….Zzzz

Our next destination Beijing Zoo to see Pandaaas…. 😀

Entry Cost: 20 yuan per person

After entering the zoo…we strait enter to the giant panda complex…saw three panda there… 😀 They are cutie 🙂

Then we start our journey toward lama temple and Confucius temple..both the temples are nearby…nearest station is lama temple station (Exit B/F)…

Entry cost Lama temple: 25 yuan per person

Entry cost Confucius temple: 35 yuan per person

Architecture of both the temples are beautiful..environment also quite and peaceful.. after long walk in summer palace…we really enjoy the atmosphere and spend a relaxing time there… 😀

Now we comes to the end of our china trip… 😦

After Visiting the temples we headed toward hotel…Eat our dinner in a Muslim restaurant near dongsi masjid…and start packing our luggage…because our flight to Melbourne is at 2:30am…so we leave our hotel at 11:45pm…this time we book a taxi from our hotel…it cost us 130 yuan to airport..

Useful Information:

  • Beijing and shanghai metro: They are cheap and convenient. Each journey cost us 3-8 yuan per person.
  • China Trains: Both the sleeper and Bullet train are clean and comfortable. Both has dining option. Popcorn in bullet train was very good… 😀
  • Halal food: You will find halal food near every masjid. There are lots of masjid in Beijing and Shanghai. Before you leave just do your research and plan ahead..:D
  • People: They are friendly and ready to help…but the language comes in the way.. young people can speak English…:D

Overall our experience is memorable … 😀

  1. The zoo in Beijing is one of the worst, i have seen skinny tiger been caged inside. Is kinda of sad. Panda is only their main attraction.
